Greta Vilidaite

Oil painter, studio and plein air artist, and art tutor based in Sheffield and the Peak District

Hello and welcome!

I am Greta, a Lithuanian-British oil painter and tutor based in Sheffield. I left my job in neuroscience to pursue painting full-time and live closer to the Peak District.

Working both in the studio and directly from life, I paint alla prima (“all in one go”) to capture the immediacy of the moment and respond instinctively to light, form and atmosphere.

Much of my work begins outdoors, where I observe and interpret the shifting moods of the landscape. My aim is not to replicate a scene, but to convey a sense of place and the emotional tone it evokes. Through bold and varied brushwork and a focus on light, I invite you to step into each painting and experience the moment as I felt it.

New Arrivals

Nothing like an original oil painting...

There is nothing quite like the gravitas and timeless beauty of oil paint. A painting does more than just depict a scene. It allows us to see through the eyes of another human being. Not only that, it can capture a feeling, an emotion, a mood, even in the most ordinary of subjects.
