Sunset on the Heather

Oil on canvas panel, 20 x 25cm.

The painting shows the stunning purple heather on Burbage Edge on a late August evening. The sky was changing quickly as the setting sun created beautiful patterns of light and shadow. It was unusually warm and the air was filled with the sweet familiar smell of ferns and heather.
