Creating energetic brushwork in oils: Tansley, April 19th

£90, all materials provided (just bring brushes!), suitable for beginners

In this workshop we will focus on creating energy in our brushwork. We will dive into: i) how to hold the brush for different effects, ii) how much paint to use where and when, iii) consistency of paint. We will also go through all the fundamental skills, no prior oil painting experience necessary!

Exploring colour in oils: Heath, May 10th

Sunday, May 10th, 10am - 3:30pm, near Chesterfield M1

£90, all materials provided (just bring brushes!), suitable for beginners

In this beginner friendly workshop we will dive into colour and how to create a vibrant painting without overdoing it (you might be surprised!). We will cover all the fundamental skills needed to paint in oils as well, whilst creating a beautiful wildflower scene (or two!).

Outdoor Painting Workshop: Cromford, June 18th

Thursday, June 18th, 9:30am - 3:30pm, High Peak Junction (near Cromford & Matlock)

Join me for a wonderful day painting outdoors! Perfect for beginners and more experienced artists who want to take their painting practice outside and learn the fundamentals of oil painting en plein air. All materials are provided (except brushes!) and you will be able to take your painting home at the end. High Peak Junction is a beautiful location by the Cromford Canal where goods used to be unloaded from trains and into canal boats. There are site toilets and a little cafe kiosk.

Outdoor Painting Workshop: Idle Valley, June 20th

Saturday, June 20th, 9:30am - 3:30pm, Idle Valley Nature Reserve (Nottinghamshire)

Join me for a wonderful day painting outdoors! Perfect for beginners and more experienced artists who want to take their painting practice outside and learn the fundamentals of oil painting en plein air. All materials are provided (except brushes!) and you will be able to take your painting home at the end. The Idle Valley Nature Reserve is a gorgeous and tranquil spot for painting surrounded by water – River Idle, Belmoor lake and various ponds. This is an excellent bird watching area too. There is a great cafe and toilets on site.

Thursday, July 9th, 10:00am - 3:30pm, Hopton Hall (near Carsington Water and Wirksworth, Derbyshire)

Join me for a wonderful day painting outdoors! Perfect for beginners and more experienced artists who want to take their painting practice outside and learn the fundamentals of oil painting en plein air. All materials are provided (except brushes!) and you will be able to take your painting home at the end. Hopton Hall is a gorgeous stately home with beautiful grounds and a stunning rose garden. We will be painting either in the rose garden itself or in the grounds in front of the house, depending on weather and light. There is an incredible amount of subject matter and interest. There is a cafe and toilets on site.
